| Called DA roses office this morning to see what the 2014 roses will be - their catalog doesn't come out until November and I get impatient. Here they are: Boscobel Judith |
Follow-Up Postings:
|
| Ha! Betcha 'Heathcliff' is dark smoky red. |
|
| Thanks for the information, alameda. I'm not sure that Austins are meant to be in my hot and dry garden judging by the performance of the ones I have, but it's always fun to see what the new ones look like. Ingrid |

| ahhhhhh.....Heathcliff.....the original bad boy. What a romantic name for a rose. And I agree Michael--likely a smoky red. But what would Katherine look like? Surely there is going to be a Katherine? But hark! There is a Sweet Juliet but no Fair Romeo. Personally I would like to have Tybalt. LOL |

| If you are describing Heathcliff as smokey red, you must never have grown it. It is more like Lady of Megginch in colour. My problem with it isn't the colour though, it is habit. Thick short stems with 3 flowers on the top, very HT in growth. Royal Jubilee is very slow to start, as it is an Alba, and it scorches badly in the sun, but it is a nice rose. Boscobel is excellent, strange colour, nice scent, nice growth, the star in that list. Tranquility is by far the best DA white, it is excellent in health and growth. The flowers are a nice size and are pure white. Absolutely no scent whatsoever though. |

| Thanks for the update on these Austin roses. Serves as a reminder ... I think I need 'The Prince' in my garden. Maybe now is the time to launch that order. |

| I still like my The Prince 4 years later...! I think Lark Rising is lovely looking on the website, not that I've grown it... |
|
| Here are pics and descriptions of these roses all on one page (see pics at bottom of page)--for your convenience. I guess this was from their introduction a year earlier in UK? I'm kinda liking Tranquillity--but have no place the plant it. Kate |

| That Heathcliff was so bad. Well, I already have Othello so maybe it's ok |
