 o
Austin fans, help me design?

Ok friends. I've ordered some bareroot Austins. I'm trying to figure out the best way to combine them. I have an area between the back door and screen porch where I'd like to put them as I am hoping they will be fragrant. The area gets nice morning sun, dappled shade mid day and low evening sun.
I have ordered Golden Celebration (3), Munstead Wood (2) Graham Thomas (1), Jude (1)(already have one with Distant Drums in a different spot), Charlotte (1) and Leander (1).
I also have Crown Princess Margareta (grafted on Huey and looking rotten) and 2 Dark Lady (grafted on Huey and likely in too much shade).
How would you combine these? Growth habits? Quirks?
Thanks to any and all!
Susan

morning sun sounds great for Jude to bring out the best color and fragrance. Mine is own root ( 4-5') and possibly shorter than a grafted one.

thanks Kitty! Do you grow any of the others? For some reason I thought you had Munstead Wood?
Golden Celebration was so pretty when I saw it this summer I had to have it (and lots).

Golden Celebration will get quite large, as will Jude and Graham Thomas. Place them at the back. Munstead Wood will be shorter, as will Charlotte. The Dark Lady gets to be about 6 feet tall and 4 feet across.

I have no idea about Leander.

I have Jude (at least 10X7), Golden Celebration (7X6), and Munstead Wood, which is too young to predict her future size, but is growing fast. These roses are all grafted on Huey. Jude is has stiff canes and is mostly upright, while GC arches and grows somewhat outward, but grows well without any support. Diane

I agree with everyone's ideas. Leander I grow as a climber on an arch support. I think you could probably keep it pruned smaller than that.

Fantastic. I know the Austins get much larger than his catalogue states. Can they be kept 6' or so with pruning or will they "resent" this...like the teas?
Thanks so much you all!
