HRF meeting in Florida

Hi. Just wondering how many GW folks are going. I'm all in!
Going to book a flight and rent a car. So if anyone needs a ride I'll be staying at the conference hotel.
Someday I will make it to the West Coast but right now Florida is in my budget.
I'm very excited.

I (Rosefolly) will be there.
Anita (Cemetery Rose) will be there.
Pamela (Mendocino Rose) is going.
Connie (Hartwood) is actually one of the speakers.

Etienne Bouret will also be presenting. He used to post on this forum from time to time, but I forget his Gardenweb name. If you remember him, it will be by his gorgeous rose photographs.

I'm sure there will be more. I hope you will be one of them.

Today is the big day, folks! Roses are being planted in FSC's long-awaited new garden, designed by Stephen Scanniello! So we're on schedule to have roses in bloom for the HRF conference. Most of the plants are large, in 5-gallon pots now, so they should look pretty well established by conference time. If anyone is local and wants to come help plant, you are welcome today and tomorrow!

DH and I are so looking forward to this meeting.

Planting five gallon pots in the heat of summer- we can take lessons on how you did this, please?

It should be a spectacular garden.

Etienne = Amirose?

Ann, A backhoe helps! Also, what some have referred to as "minions." (Students in lab courses)
Michaelg -- yes, Amirose.

Lots of delays today; no roses in the ground. But the beds are much better prepared, and ready for a massive planting tomorrow.

That's great about the garden Malcolm. I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

I'm very excited, and a little bit anxious, to be a presenter at this conference! Can't wait to show you my photos and tell you the story of my involvement with the roses at Hollywood Cemetery.

It was great to see so may GW folks at the last HRF conference in Sacramento ... it helped that we all had our GW ID on our name tag so we could recognize each other. Of course, we MUST do a GW group photo.

I'm sure you will do an excellent job with your talk. I'm very interested in hearing about the Hollywood Cemetery roses. I'll also be happy to see you again.

I'm hoping. DH is progressing well. Medical issues seem to be overcome. Lord willing, I am so looking forward to gathering together with all of my rose friends and seeing Malcolm's garden that I've been watching develop on Facebook. Hoping to meet all the Florida crew, too. :))

I hope everyone comes! I booked my airfare and car. Next is conference and hotel! I'm really excited. Hartwood, I've been reviewing your blog. It is SUCH a great thing. Spent 2 hours with it Saturday night....
Can't wait to meet everyone.

Just another gentle reminder that early bird registration ends October 1. Save some money and help us with our logistics planning by registering soon!

RE: HRF meeting in Florida2

Reminder: Tomorrow (Oct 1) is the last day to register at the reduced rate for the HRF conference! We hope to see many GW folks there. Of course you can still register up until meeting time, but the price goes up after tomorrow.

An update on the garden: As of today (9/30), we have 203 roses in the ground, and forms are built to pour the main central walkway. Climbing structures and ornamental containers for the Standards are ordered. It's looking like a garden!
