I can testify to the beauty and strong constitution of Mel's Heritage as it is doing very well in my difficult garden situation. Bright green shiny leaves with no disease and a long bloom cycle although it does not repeat for me. I recommend it.

That's interesting, Diane. It repeats at the Heritage, and repeats here, as well.

Mine is just getting started but has gone from band this spring to 10 ft lax canes! A very vigorous rose. I have it in a hot spot. Very healthy here too!

Give it more water, Diane. As long as I keep it continuously watered, as you would any rose you expect to continue pushing, it repeats its flowering here. I cut back on water and it stops. Hit it with the hose more and it reblooms. Kim

Thanks Kim. I already figured that might be the issue but am concerned about my water usage as it is. Will try to give it some more and see.

If you are going and you need a nice climber get it!

Actuallly, I value a rose with enough common sense to stop blooming when it's too dry, and save itself to bloom again, when water comes.

That's what the Chinas do, really, and lots of other plants. And at least in the forseeable future, you guys in NoCal will at least get winter rainfall.
