| I've noticed several descriptions of Crepuscule saying it has nearly thornless canes with loosely double blooms. I planted my little one this spring. It has grown and flowered well, but I don't consider it to be nearly thornless, and I wouldn't call the blooms loosely double, either. Do some clones have average thorniness and full, petal packed blooms like mine or do you think my rose was mislabeled?

| This is what 'Crepuscule' looks like, in my garden. I haven't seen it look quite like yours, but maybe it's environment? Jeri |
|
| Kind of looks like Buff Beauty to me, but I don't have either in my garden. |

| Jeri...does yours have thorns? Brittie...I'm glad you said that...I thought it might just be me, but I planted Buff Beauty last year and really can't tell much difference between it and my "Crepuscule". Thorns, leaves, new growth and blooms on both look very similar to me. I think my Buff Beauty has a stronger fragrance, but it may just be me hoping that I haven't planted the same rose. |
|
| I agree with Brittie, Buff Beauty, which IS a nice rose. It just ISN'T Crepuscule. And, in my experience, Crepuscule is NOT "prickle-free or nearly so". Kim |

| My Crepescule has never been so double. |
|
| That is 'Buff Beauty', not 'Crepuscule'. |
|
| Mine -- still quite immature -- does have prickles ... just not huge ones. And see below, 'Buff Beauty' -- a mature plant in the Sacramento City Cemetery Historic Rose Garden. Jeri |
|
| The blooms don't look like Crepescule. Crepescule is not thornless, but not particularly thorny either. |

| I could see that being Buff Beauty. The linked picture is the first bloom from a plant I'm growing out in a five gallon container for my mom. The shading wasn't captured perfectly, but the foliage, bloom shape, and thorns are reminiscent to me. Jay |

| It does resemble what I know of 'Buff Beauty', but could it also possibly be its parent, 'William Allen Richardson'? :-) ~Christopher |

| My Buff Beauty bloomed for me this weekend...looking pretty much exactly like my Crepuscule imposter. I think I'll gift one of the two and try again for Crepuscule this spring. Thanks for all your help! Buff Beauty this weekend: |
