| Hi guys,
need your help again ;o) - I would like to know more about a China Rose, that Peter Beales list as 'Yellow Mutabilis' in his catalogue. Not a real "yellow", but beautiful buff-yellow buds and pale sulphur yellow, fading white flowers. I've heard from Mrs Brichet something about a Mutabilis' seedling, found in Bermudas, with pale yellow, simple flowers... but can't remember the name. Is this 'The Active', listed on HMF? Is this the same as Yellow Mutabilis? Beales do not give any reference about it...
The picture in Beales' catalogue is really intriguing, so I've bought one... we'll see next year! Ciao!

| Maurizio -- That's interesting. It really doesn't look like Mutabilis. Even aside from the color, the petal texture doesn't look right to me. The Beales photo reminds me more of R. moschata? See Mutabilis, for comparison: I'd love to know more about this rose. Jeri |

| Well, I have found it for sale on this UK web site. http://www.classicroses.co.uk/roses/y/yellow_mutabilis.html I guess they might ship to Sardinia as well, it anyway within the EU. ANd maybe they can asnwer your questions about the origin of this rose. |

Dear Jeri, I've asked Beales... will see soon, I hope :o) Thanks again |

| Here's the answer from Peter Beales' "Yellow Mutabilis is a seedling from Mutabilis, we introduced it this year at Chelsea Flower Show. This is a new rose and is not 'The Active' coming from Bermuda" :o/ |
|
| Thanks! That makes sense. Jeri |

| Fabien Ducher talked about having a double, yellow Mutabilis seedling during his presentation at the Hearst. I think he showed a photo of it. My notes aren't very good, nor is my memory, but I remember thinking it was an interesting rose - Anita |

| I'm waiting on Vintage to release it, along with a couple others, one being a Clark rose! Getting excited to try it. For whatever reason I thought it was a sport? Have you heard anything on the double form Jeri? Maurizio, How is yours faring? I'd love to know more about the growth rate of it. Regards, Andrew |

| Here's a photo of Bermuda's "Yellow Mutabilis," taken in Bermuda. Unfortunately, it was under artificial light, so the color may not be perfectly true. Malcolm |

| HI Lookin4you2xist, You already know Vintage has this rose (custom root only, unfortunately if at all???), which they imported from Europe in 2010. They state emphatically that it is NOT a seedling of Mutabilis, but a sport, in spite of what Beales says: http://www.vintagegardens.com/rose_content.aspx?cat_id=2&product_id=51 03 Likewise, Roger Phillips gives the provenance and states it is a sport. There is a gorgeous pic on Roger's Roses. There may actually be two roses out there, and if so, then Beale's "new" rose MAY be different from Greg's Bermuda Mutabils. But one thing is sure, the Bermuda rose is gorgeous (and when is it going to be available?!?!?!?!). *Drool* |

| I don't know that it is obtainable anywhere, but I must wistfully say that a yellow sport of 'Mutabilis' not only seems quite possible, (After all, there are one-color sports of "Smith's Parish"/'Five-Colored Rose' -- so why not?) but also seems most-desirable. Gee, I wish EYE had it! My only heart's-desire rose was the pink form of R. chinensis spontanea. I suppose, now that I actually HAVE that, I can allow myself to obsess over something else. :-) Jeri |

| Years back, I had an "Emmie Gray" from Chamblees. It was like a baby Mutabilis. Had the same yellow-pink-red blooms but the whole plant & flowers were petite. Nice plant. |
|
| I've never seen any yellow on "Emmie Gray." Just pink, that deepens to red. ????????? Jeri |
|
| Well that one did. Not YELLOW yellow, but buff, like the lower left hand Mutabilis bloom photo. Heck, maybe it was mislabeled. I don't have it anymore, but recall it was just like a mini Mutabilis, so maybe it actually WAS one. |
|
| I'm thinking, mislabeled? Jeri |

| fig insanity I ordered it when it was on pre sale to replace my mutabilis. Got it with a Clark rose not in the USA ...and a couple other odds and ends. I knew I read it was a sport but after that I read it was a seedling. |

| figinsanity I ordered it when it was on pre sale to replace my mutabilis. Got it with a Clark rose (Queen of Hearts) not in the USA ...and a couple other odds and ends. I knew I read it was a sport. But, after that, I read it was a seedling? I guess I'll have it this Spring. Quarantine will finally be done. Once I have it, IT WILL be easier to get! My plant is more than likely going to head to California as a gift. I am going to graft it on Fortuniana for my garden. Not sure on how long it would take for me to have it for sale. When I actually do, my listing / nursery it is going to be OGR and a more than 100 Ralph Moore minis I've been propping and sitting on for the moment. I bought 205 Ralph Moore roses when Nor East closed. Always need more. Keeping 2 gardens, one I rarely get to see is in NEPA. I live in Florida. Thank god my family has nursery space strange considering I'm a stone quarry rat =) Yellow Mutabilis |
