rain!

We haven't had any material rain here since December of 2012! We were up at our cabin in the mountains of No Cal, and Friday night it started to pour, and continued all day today as we drove home to the SF Bay Area - I am so happy. I think here in the No SF Bay we got .50 - .60 inches just today, and in the mountains it was much more. All of Cal is so dry - you could almost feel & hear the forest and the valley sighing with relief.

I had been having to water all of my pots every day it had been so hot, and I had two nice neighbors doing that while I was gone, and they didn't have to do anything the last couple of days, and there are even PUDDLES in my garden - YAY! We hadn't been expecting any rain until late Oct at the earliest, if we were lucky.

Isn't it wonderful?? We got a good rain here in Texas, too, surely needed it, woke up this morning to cooler temps and a beautiful day. Yes, it's as if everything just sighs with relief and immediately turns green. They're warning us, though that we're probably going to have a pretty warm Fall. Nothing new about that...

The birds are hopping around all over - they look happier too. And MAYBE this will encourage the doe and her fawn who have been visiting my garden at night every 3-4 days for 6 months to go back up into the hills....

Jealous!

The San Jose area got .66 inches according to the NWS. I'm very pleased, as are my plants. Real rain is far superior to irrigation water.

After months of dragging the hose around the rain made me ecstatic. We really catch rain here in the Wild Willits Hills, an entire inch and a half.

It feels so good and you can hear the trees saying Finally a bath!

I'm waiting for our first rain of the cool season. Rain smells so good

RE: rain!

I wish rain for all those who need it, but not too much. I have a cousin who lives in Colorado, so I am wary of wishing anyone too much of a good thing.
