Anyone growing Dr. Peck's 12th Avenue Smoothie... Cemeteryrose?

Went to the Autumn in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden event today and purchased Dr. Peck's 12th Avenue Smoothie. SJHRG lists it as a Hybrid China but the Sacramento Cemetery lists it as a Hybrid Bourbon.

I remember admiring it at the cemetery but can't remember how large it grows.

Would appreciate any information.

Thanks,
Diane

Hi, Diane - you and Miles were driving out as Kathryn and I drove in yesterday. We missed you by a couple of minutes thanks to a traffic jam.

I'm not sure how to distinguish between a Hyb Bourbon and Hyb China. It has the smooth canes, heavy disease-resistant foliage, arching canes and many-petalled fragrant bloom of either type of rose. It's got prickles on the back of the leaves so be careful - you can still be injured with this rose, I say from personal experience. It's medium pink, and grows in a suckering way about six feet tall. We have it in two places - one is up in the Broadway Bed, and then down by A.P. Smith's plot in the East Bed, where it's been tied to a rebar arch but does not really climb over it. It's lovely when it blooms in the spring.
