I posted a thread last month about Marechal Niel in which Dr. Manners suggested I contact Burling Leong about budding a Gloire de Dijon rose. I am happy to report that due to High Country Roses putting GdD on sale, I was able to have a band sent to Mrs. Leong. She preferred GdD over budding a Marechal Niel and I am perfectly happy with such an arrangement. Hopefully all goes well and Mrs. Leong will be able to put a budded version of GdD into commerce so more people can enjoy this rose. It may take up to a year, especially since GdD grows so slowly, but it will be worth the wait. So keep an eye out for it if you're interested! Josh

How wonderful - I love the look of both of those roses, but they certainly have reputations of being difficult to grow. Jackie

Great; I've tried Gloire but she died after about a year. She was alive long enough to bloom a few times and the blooms were incredible. I'd love to get a hold of a budded version!

Wow Josh. What a great thing for you to have done. I'll contact Burling and see if she's started a list. Update: Contacted Burling and she put me on a list for a budded GdeD. Thanks again Josh. Diane

That's wonderful.

Diane, I'm so glad you're benefitting from it! I must admit I did not do it for purely altruistic reasons, as I too am looking forward to owning a budded version. Nonetheless, I am glad you will be able to share in the joy of a GdeD that will not croak after one year. :-) Much thanks to Mrs. Leong for so graciously obliging my request! Josh

Has anyone here had experience growing High Country's selection of GdD?

High Country Roses is having a sale so I went ahead and purchased a GdeD for $11.96. Will see how it turns out. Diane

Diane, I'm very curious as well to see how HCR's stock of GdD performs as well. Keep us updated, if you will. Josh
|
I certainly will, Josh. Who knows? It might be a winner. Diane

Just received my GdeD from High Country Roses. A very nice plant in a quart pot that looks healthy and ready to grow. Will send a photo soon. Everyone, keep your fingers crossed. Diane
