| The foliage of Betty Bland four days ago, the colours are even better today but it's too windy to go outside. I'm sorry the photo isn't good. |

| We don't enjoy much fall color here, and roses supply some of the best of it. R. hugonis is very good, and some of the would-be-evergreen roses turn a near-black polished color that's decidedly handsome. I bet the Rugosas do well for you, and some of them are brilliant in autumn. We can't grow them. |

| The rugosa Moje Hammarberg in front of the spinosissima Double White is probably the best fall color combo in my garden now. |

| That is truly lovely, Marianne. The second picture is so dramatic. This is one of the beauties of a four-season climate, although I'm afraid my thin California blood wouldn't be able to handle the subsequent winter freezing temps. Ingrid |
