Does mildew have a ZIP code?

Hello. I've just gotten some new roses from ARE and they are mildewing...granted we have had lots of cool wet weather and fog...Cramoisi Sup. in particular seems mildewy. Since all these roses are in pots, should I move them to more sun? Seems they get pretty good circulation... Or is this just something some roses do? I've never had mildew on roses before. Thanks! | Mildew requires very narrow weather conditions that are common right on the Pacific Coast but not in Nashville. Just treat the disease that you have, and you may not see it again until late next fall, if then. |

| I live in a dry area of southern California but after some moist winters have had plenty of mildew during the following spring on just about every class of rose. When I first grew roses here in an area where no roses had been grown before I had zero disease of any kind for the first two years and after that mildew and then some rust and blackspot began to creep in. It's been increasingly prominent with every year, although never to the degree that some gardeners here have complained of. Ingrid |

| Susan, I've found it not uncommon for young own-root plants to mildew -- and outgrow it as the plant matures. I DO live in Mildew Central, and Cramoisi Superieur does not mildew here at all. Ever. So I think there's a very good chance that your present trouble is a function of immaturity. Jeri |

Heh. Ok. I hope it is immaturity. Such a pretty rose. I love all my new roses I purchased this summer. I'm especially loving buying them from RU and ARE which are much larger for not much more than the price of bands. Instant gratification...which is rare in the rose world. Susan |

| Mildew likes 48081 too, lol! As Michael said, if the weather conditions are right any place can get mildew. Cool, wet and foggy sound just about perfect for it to me. |

| I think mildew actually takes over my zip -- 92675. |

| Curiously, does that mean I won't have mildew since I don't have a zip code? |
