Cemetery Roses update

The potted rose collection continues to grow as my personal roses and cemetery roses flow in from around the country. So far I have:

Souv. De Francoia Gaulain
Souv. D'Elise Vardon
Crepuscule
Alister Stella Gray
Anna dr Diesbach
Reines des Violettes
Duc de Guiche
William Lobb
Cramoisi Supeurier
Duchesse de Brabant
Souv. De La Malmaison
Aennchen Von Tharau
Raubritter

All growing up in pots before planting. My parents are throwing quite the fit, upset that I've turned the back porch "into a greenhouse." But it's alright, they were quite unhappy with the back beds too until I finished them. Now they take a stroll out there to sniff the roses and pick bouquets. Sometimes you just have to trust the gardener, right? :-)

Josh

I like your list, Josh, some of these roses I've never seen, but would like to. You've really done your homework, and bet your parents will be so proud of you for adding to the cemetery, when all is said and done! I really admire what you're doing, will do what I can to help you out...

Tell your mom "it could have been worse" and show her the pic below. Thankfully, while I share the yard with the neighboring house (same landlord for both), I live alone in my house. There was definitely a long "awkward period" as I was having rose orders arrive and before I prepped and planted the beds. The pic below was back in June, and I think it shows the most I had in pots at one time -- about 80-85.

Josh, you have a whole group of people here who are following your progress with great interest and wish you all the best. I'm enjoying your updates, and having you and Christopher who are young and enthusiastic (and okay, also good-looking), has livened up the forum nicely. It's also rather encouraging that someone who doesn't have twinges of arthritis yet is taking an interest in old roses.

Ladies, eat your hearts out! I'll meet Josh for the first time on October 19 at the Celebration of Roses in Farmers Branch, TX, and hopefully gnabbonand, as well as other people from Gardenweb, lol!

Josh, you're a superhero for roses. Keep up the good work.

Wonderful list so far.

Ingrid -- thank you, but I feel funny being in the same category as Josh. I'm three years away from turning 40, while Josh...well, I get the idea he's in college, and probably an undergraduate, which means that he's about the same age as Sammy, my 22YO DYH amazon parrot. I'll blush and grudgingly accept the "good-looking" compliment. But young? I'm almost as old as my grandmother was on the day I was born. Let's call me "fully mature but still growing."

:-P

Oh, and Josh -- if you see anything of mine you'd like me to root next year for your cemetery project, let me know anytime by, oh, April. My inventory is on "My Page" here at GardenWeb.

Fantastic, Josh! Hey, can you use:

Mme. Laurette Messime
Glorie des Rosomanes aka Ragged Robin
Champney's Pink Cluster
Marchioness de Londonerry
Archduke Charles
'Caldwell Pink' aka Pink Pet
La Marne

I have babies rooted of all these, most are over a year old. E-mail me if so & I can ship them out now that the weather is cooler
