| Once upon a time, I steered clear of fragrant roses. I feared that all fragrant roses were aphid magnets. Glad I learned better! Lynn |

| That singles, like Dainty Bess, weren't real roses because they didn't have enough petals. |

| That roses can't be grown in a desert climate. They do very well here for the most part, except for the summer, of course. |

| That roses love Potassium so much that if you put a banana in the ground, the roots will go to where the banana is and if you dig it up the next year, you'll see the banana shape made up of fine rose roots. I wish someone with very sandy soil would prove or disprove this. |
RE: Silliest Thing You have Thought or Actual Rose Myth?
| | |
| mmmm have heard similar with a dead fish instead of a banana. I have done it with dead cats (but am not really inclined to go rooting around to check the root shapes). |
RE: Silliest Thing You have Thought or Actual Rose Myth?
| | |
| Why would one dig a recently planted rose up and examine the roots unless it was already dead? So do bananas and fish kill roses? I won't even pursue the question of dead cats... |

| That a rose is a rose is a rose etc... |

I have - amended - sandy soil and I did put a banana peel under my roses last summer....among other sundry items....(eg. epsom salts)... One rose bush didn't make it but no, it's roots did not form a banana shape:) Excuse me while I go give out more Halloween candy:) |
