We met at the Celebration of Roses in Farmers Branch, TX. A nicer young man I've never met, so easy to talk to! And he has obviously done his homework, it won't be long until he's an expert. A thoroughly pleasurable day, beautiful park, beautiful fall weather, friendly people, good food and bluegrass music, a new friend, what more could you ask for? ogrose

It all sounds lovely, and how great to meet an on-line friend. I forgot to ask you to give him a hug from me. You listed all the ingredients of what I'd consider a perfect outing; how I wish I could have been there. Thanks for reporting back to us, especially the Josh sighting. Ingrid

Well, you did have a happy day, Ogrose! Good for you and I think Josh was lucky to meet you too. Gean

Thank you Gean, that's sweet of you! To have someone treat an older person with the respect he gave me was a privilege and such a treat. I don't get out much anymore with my DH so ill, so is something I will treasure. He came to my yard later to get cuttings, etc., and met my DH, and he immediately liked him too! Jeri, I so wish you could have been there, too, in fact all of you! Josh had a lot of questions I couldn't begin to answer, so we both could've used someone who really knows their stuff...

Sounds wonderful, OGRose. I'm glad you and Josh met. There is a long and lively tradition of forum members getting together to meet in the real world. We have so much to share that it spills right out of the computer and into our lives. Rosefolly

Ah, y'all are so kind! I had such a great time at the Celebration of Roses with Ogrose (though I did make her wait and was so embarrassed about that). She was a delight to chat with, and was so patient as I just talked her ear off. The music was great, the gardens were inspiring, and the weather was perfect! I really cannot thank her enough for welcoming into her garden and being so hospitable. And generous! Thanks to her there are 16 cuttings trying to root on my back porch and hopefully they can be planted into the cemetery. I know for certain that Cl. Pinkie will be finding a home there. What a great day! I wish more of our friends could have been there to share it with us. Perhaps one day I can make the trip to California to see everyone. Josh

Josh & Ogrose, great to hear you two met at the Celebration of Roses. It sounds like a great time. Kicking myself for not going. Randy

Well, Randy, you should be kicking yourself, it was an absolutely gorgeous day and fun! Okay, I admit I've done the same thing, for one reason or another didn't go, and regretted it; it's been about three years, and this year I promised myself I would go every year. (:

Oh gosh, you met Josh? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) It sounds like an enriching visit for both, and a lovely day in every respect. I certainly like the sound of beautiful weather as I look at the drippy landscape out the window. Josh, good luck with your cuttings!

I have been corresponding with Josh, and I can concur that he sounds like a very nice young man ... great that you met and got to know him better in person. There is a Texas rose event coming up next year that I have penciled in on my calendar -- the dedication of the Anne Belovich Rambler Garden in Chambersville, scheduled for May 3, 2014. Watch out, Texas, I'm coming!

Connie, That's great! I will put the event down on my calendar. I can't wait! Josh
