Not trying to be annoying, but I cannot help shouting with glee - it started raining last night in the middle of the night, and rained real rain until about 11AM this morning. All of the spots under our big trees got completely wet, and the street gutter is running. I don't know the number, but it was so much that we have turned off our irrigation system (at least for a week, then we will see). They are predicting more rain for Friday. Holding my breath hoping this is a harbinger of good things to come - all we need up here in No Cal is for what they call the "storm door" to stay open - last year it was totally shut by the "ridiculously resilient ridge" of high pressure until Feb 1 (not my words - that is what the weather people called it!). The same number of storms as usual came across the Pacific, but they were all forced way North instead of coming here. Jackie

Our "20% chance" today went from gloomy, chilly, dark and gray to windy, warm and fully sunny. Congratulations! Kim

In fact, it was not only brightly sunny by afternoon, but warm-ish and muggy. The prediction for tomorrow calls for more of that. It's terribly depressing.

That is great, I am very happy for you and hope it starts raining soon for everyone who needs it so desperately!

I'm happy for anyone who needs rain who actually gets it. We've had one hurricane after another come up from Baja only to veer sharply to the east and flood Arizona while we got nothing. I wonder whether we've inherited your ridge of high pressure, Jackie. You need the rain badly and I'm so glad it's happening for you. Hopefully the weather gods will smile on us soon in a similar fashion. Ingrid

Accd to the paper this morning, we got .35 inches of rain, and the area where our local reservoirs are got .52 inches. They are still predicting more light rain for tomorrow, and a BIG storm coming in on Monday - here's hoping they are right! Jackie
