Is anyone growing this Tea-noisette? I'd like to know if it is hardy on its own roots. Just arrived from Vintage a few weeks ago and am hoping it does better than Gloire de Dijon as an own root. I'm planning to grow it on a rebar tepee so vigor will be important.

I don't grow GdD (yet), but it is notoriously weak as an own-root. By 1933 there was already talk that the plant had declined due to excessive propagation. I think GdD is a poor comparison in terms of vigor. I'm sure DdO will perform much better for you. :-) Josh

No, but if I lived in Duarte, CA, I would love to grow this rose there! Jeri

This doesn't sound very promising. I have two other roses that would work well on a large pillar. Maybe I should use one of them instead and plant DdO somewhere else.

Lindyb, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I did some looking around on HMF and it seems that DdO is quite vigorous for others.. I'd plant it and let it do what it can. If it doesn't perform then you can move it. Josh

Thanks, Josh. I think I'll do just that.
