This rose is really showing the tan and lavenders in this weather. I know this isn't antique but thought you all might appreciate it.

Kim I thought you might check this one out! Three spring bands from Burling.
I just wanted you to know that Grey Dawn is doing pretty well. Jocelyn kicked the bucket. Some of my lav/tans bloomed and then just died. Tom Brown is my favorite weakling. I think I overfertilized it and it defoliated but I see new growth. Nimbus is doing well. Lilac Charm and Lilac (dawn?)? were decimated in the grasshopper plague but coming back. Is Ash Wednesday any better?
Thanks.

RE: cafe ole bud

Ash Wednesday was fairly strong growing for me. It simply didn't flower much in my mid desert garden, which shouldn't have surprised me. It is bred from Eglanteria lineage and in general, those genes were never very happy in that environment. No matter how much I lusted after them, nor how Herculean my efforts to appease them. It remained healthy and grew, it was just quite skimpy with any floral rewards for my efforts and expenditures. It may well do much better for you as your heat is quite different and you have water, in comparison to here.

Watch for a real tan flower on your Cafe Ole plant. The lavender is the original version, Winter Magic. The tannish (instead of lavender) flowers are Cafe Ole. It's another of those really irritating mutations which sports back and forth serendipitously. One bloom, it's lavender; the next, tan. Oh,well, not that huge an issue for you as they're both exotic and seductive and both appear on the same basic plant with the same excellent scent. It's just a headache for the poor nurseryman who tries in vain to provide the right rose for the right name, but Nature continues poking sticks in the spokes.

Good luck with Tom Brown! Mine limps along, teasing me with the "threat" of producing something I can actually BUD, but, ever the tease, never actually "putting out." Kim

Oh, that's a pretty one, Susan! My Koko Loco gets more tan in the cool weather too.

So Tom is a tease huh? I've got a few of those...not really into playing that game but as mine are so young I'm hanging in there and just ignoring them (that will drive a tease CRAZY!).
Seil, I keep saying I'm going to get Koko Loco. It's on my next list of reinforcements for those I've bought that don't make the cut!
Gorgeous. Do you have Spiced Coffee? I have three of those and the color is a bit similar...the shading is amazing on your bloom. Thanks for sharing!

I have Cafe Ole and Spiced Coffee. They are both beautiful. Spiced Coffee has performed better for me, but it could just be the location in my garden. I love this color.

Mine are particularly pretty this time of year. Very mutable and different with almost every bloom.....
