Another source for roses, mainly species

Just received my first order of roses from a nursery I recently discovered on the net, Colvos Creek Nursery, in Washington State. VERY reasonably priced roses. In 4 inch pots, either $5 or $6. I wondered how big they could be at that price, and I was quite favorably impressed at what was sent to me. Roots were coming out the bottom of all pots and the R. polyantha grandifloras were HUGE--their canes were wrapped around the inside of the box they came in, and the owner sent a note saying the deer had munched them so he'd reduced the price to $3 each! Wowza what a bargain! I also ordered 2 R. cantabrigiensis. Price for 4 roses $18--adding shipping brought the total to $30.

Below is a link for the catalog, scroll down for the roses. He has a really neat selection of species roses. Not all are in stock. He didn't have any of hemispherica available this year. I'm hoping to get some of his others when they're back in stock.

Thanks Mellisa! We need all of the nurseries we can get, and it is especially wonderful to find one that has species!

Noticed they had Headleyensis too - another pale yellow winner - and if you can find Earldomensis.......
Great selection of oaks.

I just read the same info on the nursery's home page. Darn it! There are sales for those who live nearby. Carol

Found and lost. How sad. Forest Farm in Oregon has a nice selection of species and some other roses.
