Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

It looks like Vintage is clearing out its stock of roses. It is incredibly sad, but a great opportunity for some rare roses that are otherwise unavailable. The sale pricing scales as you buy more roses.

1-4 roses = 15%
6-13 roses = 20%
14-17 roses = 40%
18+ roses = 50%

Import Roses Discount Sale
This group of rare old roses we imported from France in 2010 cannot be found elsewhere for sale in the USA. Our remaining stock can be purchased on this sale for less than our original price. It is likely to be the last opportunity you will have to collect these beautiful old roses!

Josh, I requested Milkmaid too! LOL. At some point we are all going to have to swap inventory and start sharing cuttings. I also requested Alice Hamilton, Yellow Mutabilis and most of the European Polyanthas.

I am seriously jealous!!!!

I would love to have a few, but my wallet says what are you thinking!

RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

Susan,

It looks like a fantastic rose! I agree that cuttings should be swapped! I will be in the game just as soon as my bands grow up! I have all of my currently owned roses listed on my 'My Page' here. Most are still young but I am happy to send what I can.

Kippy,

There is no way I should be buying more roses, I am as broke as college students come. What swayed me was the fact that this is a once in a lifetime chance to obtain these roses, and I would be forever kicking myself if I didn't bite the bullet and get them while they last. I've already missed out enough on Vintage by being so late to the game that I don't want to risk missing this opportunity entirely! Lol.

Did anyone else order anything from the sale?

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

I wish. If I could plant or pot them I would. I am envious as there are a few on that list I would love to try.

I guess we need to come up with some kind of "cuttings" email distribution list....Oh yes, and then I will need someone to teach me to root them. HA
I can't wait to see what shakes out for me in this batch.

My last, last, last, last Vintage order

was for Siwa and Showbiz VID. I didn't know Showbiz was even available without virus!

I also have Silver Queen coming. I was too late to order any of the interesting Hybrid Perpetuals, but maybe some will show up in other nursery inventories.

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

Ohh Silver Queen was the one I really wanted...lucky you!!!

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

Ha. I guess I don't rank. I haven't heard back from them.

Susan, VG at this point is two stressed people, who are likely uncertain about their own futures in addition all other sources of distress. I shan't be looking for confirmation for at least two weeks. That is why I only ordered two, so I can be sure of having funds to cover a small purchase when they do put through the transaction.

I ordered Silver Queen when it was first offered, I think before it had even been imported. If it is as good as I suspect it will prove to be, it surely will show up in commerce in the USA eventually.

This is interesting. I had ordered Jeanne Carboeuf and see they have four, but instead they sent me one of the substitutes I listed. Major bummer. I suppose they must be rushed off their feet but it's still frustrating.

I received my confirmation today. I got Frederic II de Preusse and Milkmaid. It's the first time I've actually gotten my choices from a VG sale.

I'm sorry to hear about the frustration. Perhaps an email to Mr. Lowery could sort it out? They have always been accommodating when I have approached them.

If I was going to order

Primerose Sistau and Petite Marcelle would be on my list.

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

I bought and have received:
Stephen's Big Purple
Rosa palustris scandens
Tresor de Thorigny
Eugène E. Marlitt
Belle de la Carniere
Alexis Lepere
Silver Queen

And I have ordered several more but I'll wait to see what I actually end up with.

The majority of these are bands... What's your process in getting this size to healthy mature rose bushes? Do you plant them now or pot them up for a year before planting? What works best for you? I'm in Texas so won't have the brutal cold that northern states will have.

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

new garden, I received mine a few weeks ago, potted them up in 1 gal pots, and only put them in my garden shed if there is a really good freeze, and plan to plant them next fall, depending on how they're doing. I like to see a little size to them.

New_garden,

What part of Texas? Ogrose and I are in N. Dallas, and I follow the same protocol as her. I pot them up in 1 gallons and let them acquire some decent size before I will put them out in the ground. If a good freeze is on its way I will protect them, but other than that when they're ready to be planted I stick in the dirt and let them go.

Fort Worth area so not far from you.

 o
RE: Vintage Roses Clearance Sale

Josh, I'm sure they would send me the correct rose if I contacted them but that would cost them extra money and hassle. Since I know little about either rose, I may even have ended up with the more desirable rose. Hope springs eternal....

I'm also getting the following but don't know much about them in terms of size. There's not much online about them. Can anyone put sizes with them? I need to start planning placement.

Souvenir de Mme. Berthier
Louise Catherine Breslau
Ferdy
Milkmaid
Salmon Wings
Petite Marcelle

Also getting:

Paul's Single White Perpetual
President Willermoz

new_garden, I'm in the same boat as you are, and suspect quite a few of us are too; I will just plant, and will move later if needed.
