| The Austins have been pumping out the blooms since it's been raining often here in N. Dallas. Jude, Heritage, and Eglantyne are especially happy about the damp conditions. As nice as the flowers look, the smell is even better! |

| Dang, I should have taken a pic....and yours look particularly beautiful against that background. There are a few flowers hanging on some of the roses now, with a few more buds forming. Yesterday I had lunch at the bar of a restaurant where I usually go on Tuesdays (but I was off the last two Tuesdays) to give a little "thank you" fragrant bouquet to the bartender whose boyfriend sold me the mulch. I put one beginning-too-open 'Lady Hillingdon', a small spray each of soon-to-open "Secret Garden Musk Climber" and 'Marie Pavie', and a sepals-back closed bud each of 'Mirandy' and 'Evelyn' together. The SGMC had one opened flower whose petals dropped as I cut the spray, but since the scent on it comes mostly from the stamens, it was still giving off its clove fragrance. Ally (the bartender) texted me later that she had to make a stop at a store on the way home, leaving the little bouquet in the car. When she got back inside the car, she said the perfumes of them all were almost overpowering. Hmmm....looking out back, I see a few more buds coming along...perhaps I can make another tiny bouquet in a couple days. :-) ~Christopher |
