Vettin, In my experience Fields of the Woods and Kocher Red are different. I tried them both. Both are notwith me anymore, too much BS here on both of these. My friend in the other county here in MD had similar results with FoW. I guess they love South. A lot of good reports from Southern folks. Olga
I forgot where I got my field of the woods, I don't think it was rogue valley. It's got its own roots. I got mine last year so this year was it's full year.
When it gets big enough it'll be in full sun but right now it's a little shaded by the fence and a huge James Galway.
It's about 3' tall, healthy, no winter dieback, and BS was not a problem, at least not yet. i did spray but not very consistantly.
I got Rhode Island Red from Vintage Gardens this year, and so far it has been exceptionally healthy and vigorous. It has stayed clean and bloomed off and on all summer. I am impressed. I don't know if this is the same rose or a different one from FOTW though it sounds different and I haven't tried any of the others... Also, sometimes BS takes more than a season to infect a new plant, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that this good health continues.
