| Please tell me what I am missing.
A freind is staying with me, after her rental became unavailable and she is paying me rose rent.(yeaaa!) I have always been partial to white roses and pale roses and I've grown mostly Tea and Noisettes and I have never bought a red rose, but lately I've been coveting these in local gardens znc these 3 are shortlisted: Climbing 'Cramoisi Superieur' I love how it starts out crimson and then lightens to a cherry-crimson hue, and the silver red backs make a very pretty affect. I'd rate its' scent as 3-4 out of 10 Noella Nabonnand (H.T. that blooms as floriferously as an Old Garden Tea) Tres grande roses as a French person wrote, I love the occasional white streak in this red rose inherited from its' China rose ancestors. fragrance to me is 5-7 out of 10 depending on conditons. Souvenir de Claudius Denoyal
All three are disease resistant in local no-spray gardens, where conditions favor p.m. most often followed by b.s. and rust. are there other evergreen red roses that I should know about? it would help if you could say where a rose is presently available.

| FWIW, my Cl. Cramoisi Superieur came from the Sacramento City Cemetery. As for Noella Nabonnand -- I understand the rose often in commerce under this name is really 'Marie Nabonnand.' Only one U.S. source is listed for Marie ... Greenmantle. For Noella, both Vintage and Rogue Valley are listed West Coast sources. I'd assume that Vintage has the right one. Not sure which rose Rogue has, so I guess I'd want to discuss it with them, eh? Jeri |

| My "Nabonnand" rose came from Roses Unlimited in 2008. They listed it as 'Noella Nabonnand' and it turns out to really have been 'Marie'. It was a thing of beauty, the cherry red flowers are perfectly featured against the yellowish green foliage. Disease resistance was excellent. Sadly, I had to remove her last month ... another victim of RRD. :( Connie P.S. The link below takes you to a blog post from 2011 where I featured Marie, in all her wonderful spring glory. |

| Luxrosa, I bought "Noella Nabonnand" from Ashdown. When it did not rebloom for two years, I went looking to see what rose I could actually have. That's when I found Marie, but she is supposed to rebloom. I'm sure mine was Marie. She matched the description in the Noella/Marie discussions on HMF. I just can't figure why she never bloomed again after her first flush for two years. I don't have her anymore, sad to say. I loved the blooms. They were really breathtaking. She wasn't stiff like other climbing HT's I've had but fairly flexible and slender. Assuming she reblooms, I would choose her especially after seeing Connie's blog pics. Sherry |
