20 degrees predicted for tonight's low! YIKES

Gosh. It's a beautiful 65 degree day here but tonight it is going to get really really cold. I'm worried about my chinas and teas in 1 gal pots. I have some pine straw and I think I will huddle them up in a protected southern spot. Should I put the straw all around the pots (kind of like they are in a straw nest) and then over the tops as well? Huddle them together in a quickie version of Seil's wonderful rose corral?
I didn't think it would get so cold so soon!
Thanks
Susan

Yeah, all of that. The problem is the small pots lacking thermal mass. If you herd them up and insulate the outside they will hold some of their collective heat.

However, it would probably take hours of below 20 to harm them even without that treatment.

Thanks Michael. You are always ready to step in with advice and I appreciate that. They are herded and pine straw protected.
