Rosette Delizy in the Fall

Here it is Nov 7th - I just took this picture of Rosette Delizy 5 minutes ago. I love this rose - it never gets sprayed, and never gets any diseases. Blooms in frequent flushes all year.

Second that! It's everything I want a rose to be.

Here's a close up of partly opened buds:

Mine is covered with flowers, probably a hundred on a five-foot shrub, with many buds. It has no disease and is covered with leaves from top to bottom. Wouldn't you know it, with all that it's not one of my favorites, the colors perhaps being too sophisticated against my wild background, but it's a wonderful cut rose in the house and lasts very well there, with it's lovely color nuances making it a very elegant bouquet.

I can understand that, Ingrid. The colors are very modern, for an "Old" Rose. But after all, it was Int. very late. 1921? '22? -- The colors do sort of speak to the Roaring 20's.

I hadn't realized it was that late a tea, Jeri; I think that does sort of explain it. Thank you for pointing that out. These little tidbits of knowledge always add to the interest of growing the older roses.

A very cheerful, even cheeky rose. I do like it. Mine is a baby but produced several flushes of perky little roses this summer.

She's so pretty. The flowers present a different face each day with that creamy yellow center & blush of pink along the edges.
I had one for years in an awful location & it always bloomed. My new one is a chopped root baggie from the grocery store & it's been lovely--each flush is bigger & more beautiful--can't wait to see it as a mature recovered bush.

It's also a tough rose and can handle poorer locations .

That is an exquisite shot of this rose, Erasmus. What a beautiful rose. Diane

Mine is blooming, too. I'll have to go out and look at it. Oh, Erasmus, I want so much to post your photo on Facebook where it will be shared on our rose society page. I would take great joy in outshining those modern HTs with your pic. :))

Thank you! Please feel free to use my picture, Sherry. Here's another picture with more muddled bloom form. The size of the blooms seems more variable than some others depending on how much water the plant gets. If it's hot and dry the blooms can be darned small.

I agree that it is a wonderful rose. I think it really loves the mild fall weather. Mine is like the star of the garden right now. Thanks for the beautiful photos.

I really love it when it opens fully, that way -- NOT "muddled," which sounds bad, but "ruffled," which most of the Nabonnand roses seem to be.

And, it is also beautiful in bud . . .
