Ogrose and Pam, we three girls had fun that day, walking through Leu Gardens, riding in the car and blabbing for hours, having a luxurious lunch with w i n e and dinner with w i n e !! It was a beautiful day and getting to know Carolyn was the best. She's just lovely.

On that link, partway down the page, there are three HT's in a row. Does anybody know what the middle one is? It's just barely touched with pink on the edges of the petals, and it's beautiful....

What a happy day you must have had, Sherry. So glad for you!

RE: Celebrity Sherry from Ocala......

Minflick, I see two photos of HT's. The one with pink edges is Lady of the Dawn. The more solid pink is Secret, I think. If you're referring to bushes, I have no clue. Sorry.

Thanks, Kippy and Gean. Anonymity is so much more comfortable now that old age is here. I'll never get used to seeing my face in photos. That's not me!!

Think the pink edges one is the one I thought was just absolutely beautiful. So delicate in that photo!

On second glance, upon revisiting the page, Lady of the Dawn is not the one, at least I don't think so. The one further down the page, with the line: *There wasn't much time for sight seeing, but I couldn't miss* right under it is the one I love. More petals, I think, than Lady of the Dawn? Very different appearance.

Hmm, I didn't scroll down that far so I missed it. Why don't you post the question right on Carolyn's blog. She was taking pics of the markers, too, so maybe she knows. Hopefully, she does anyway.

Good to see you Sherry (looking very trim; must be all the gardening). Carolyn has a very enjoyable blog overall. I'm wondering how your roses are doing; I really miss your frequent posts.

Hey, Ingrid, I'm in overhaul mode again. I've got some new roses to plant. I moved Alex Hill Gray a couple feet this morning so I can fit in Vanity and Mme Scipion Cochet, the Tea. I picked up 4 moderns at the Rose Festival that I'm very excited about, and I've got 4 new Austins and 3 climbers to plant. I think I have the space. I wish so much that I had more after Carolyn Parker's post today on Distant Drums - such an appealing rose. Another Buck rose that I saw at the Festival that blew my mind is Earth Song. So many roses and so little room.

I was born tall with a thin frame and some breadth across the butt. Haha.

Sherry, I'm so glad about your enthusiasm re Earth Song; I planted one not too long ago with lots of TLC but there's not too much growth so far. I can't wait to see the first flower.

I'm so glad you're adding new things. That's always the most exciting part. I've been trying to build up my A.H. Gray with very good success. I swear that rigorous disbudding makes roses leaf out and grow much faster.

I'd love to know the names of all the new roses you're planting. I'm surprised you have the room unless you've eliminated some. I think you're going to have an exciting spring!

At the moment I also have five bands to plant with three more roses arriving in the spring. Even when we think we're finished we're not finished....

Oh, Ingrid, I discovered that I told you the wrong Buck rose. Earth Song was very nice, but the one I was so impressed with was Hawkeye Belle. She has huge flowers. I don't remember fragrance.

My new roses are Mister Lincoln on Fort, a beautiful, fragrance red NOID on Fort, Iridecent Pink, Curly Pinky, Rugosa Alba, Lady of Megginch, Tradescant, Darcey Bussell, Jude the Obscure, Rhodologue Jules Gravereaux, Colette, The Charletan, Stephen's Big Purple, Vanity & Fourth of July.

Plus Bonica, Green Ice & Cracker Pink (a tiny found China) will go in pots. Belinda's Dream is coming, too.

Yes, several have left or are leaving the garden. Our Festival of Roses earlier this month changed my perspective on roses. I learned there are beautiful roses other than OGRs that are healthy here, so I'm giving them a shot. Some roses after 3 years just were not appealing to me, so they're gone. Anything that was struggling and some that I had multiples of are leaving. There are Buck roses I'd like to try but unless they will grow in pots on the driveway they won't fit.
