 o
Alba for colder areas. Belle Amour

Belle Amour is a rose that you have to stop and admire. From a distance the blooms just look like any old pink ones. They actually have a peachy pink shade to them. The bush is large and tall and like all Albas, no problems.

While I love all the other roses you posted this one made me jump up and look for a vendor. To my dismay they are all out, of course.

Absolutely stunning!!!!

I love Belle Amour. Very shade tolerant for me and a wonderful scent.

When I lived in Washington state I got this rose from Heirloom, which at the time was Heirloom Old Garden Roses...what a beautiful rose. Was lucky enough to get it here in Italy from Anna Peyron years ago; they had just dropped it from their catalog but still had a plant or two. The rose has since started growing on its own roots and looks good to stay around for all eternity. I've never succeeded in rooting it, but two or three years ago I took a couple of unrooted suckers and planted them out and they took.
'Belle Amour' is frequently classed as an Alba but I don't think anyone knows exactly what it is. It's very thorny, not typical for that class, and the warm pink color is unusual for an old rose; also, it has a myrrh fragrance. In Washington 'Belle Amour' would drop its petals cleanly and they were very decorative as they blanketed the ground.
