New homes for Souvenir de la Malmaison

Well, I have finally found new homes for both my climbing and bush forms of Souvenir de la Malmaison.
Two local English couples are taking one apiece.
We decided to celebrate the roses going to new homes, by my taking them to Yorgo's and Katerina's taverna last night for them to collect. We invited a few other friends as well, so there were ten of us who sat down to dinner.
Well, the wine and beer flowed freely.
Michaelis, Yorgo and Katerina's son played his lyra and the party got noisier and noisier.
When seven!!! hours later, the party broke up to go home, I am not sure if they understood a word of my instructions on how to care for the roses.
Still, at least the roses got a good send off!!!

Thanks for sharing the good news ... I was happy too when Vicky in Chicagoland accepted my roses. I hate to kill them when I spent money on poor-performers.

What a fabulous idea. I could do my similar party on May 5th for Cinco de Mayo!!! But I don't know anyone with a Lyra - that sounds like a high-point!

That's a brilliant way to spread the rose addiction - like Tupperware parties.

Glad the roses got a new home. Wish we all could have been at the party.

The party sounds great! Seven hours, my. I would have been under the table since I don't drink but would have felt obliged to join in for this momentous occasion. Thank you for describing that for us, and letting us vicariously join in the fun.

I hope the roses do well for them, by the way; almost forgot about them!

Getting or giving a new rose; I can't think of a better reason for a party. So glad you've found homes for them. Is there something going in their places????

Climbing Souvenir de la Malmaison was climbing through a pomegranate tree with the bush form sitting in front at the base.
It was impossible to dead head her, so I have decided not to put another rose there.
I am going to plant a Thunbergia grandiflora instead.
If anyone grows it, I would be glad to hear about it. It is a new plant for me.
As for the space at the front, I had planned to put Grandmother's Hat there. But I don't think there will be enough room, so I will have to think again.

I don't know how the other partygoers were feeling yesterday, but even I had to go for the Paracetamol, even though I only had a glass and a half of wine all evening!!!
