Nurseries restocking

I curious when most nurseries will restock their roses. I have noticed that the majority of Angel Gardens and Rose Petals roses are usually out of stock. Do they roll out the new cuttings in the spring?

It's worth asking directly, but a few I've asked said they're at highest inventory late summer/fall.

I sure like ordering at that time--the bands I've received in fall have generally been larger plants than the spring ones & that's when it's best for me to plant stuff anyway. Used to order for earliest spring (Feb) delivery & that's about the only time you can get bare roots. But the last couple of years I've done late Sept./early Oct. delivery (bands) & from Forestfarm, Burling, Vintage--the band plants were substantially bigger than those I've ordered for spring.

Ownroot nurseries like ARE, RU, Rogue Valley, Heirloom, et al. continuously propagate and restock. The widest selection of varieties from those vendors is generally available in the spring. In my experience, Green Mantle, another very reputable source, propagates only on order; consequently, there's usually a lengthy wait before shipment.

It's anybody's guess what business plan either Angel Gardens or Rose Petals Nursery has in place. Their collections appear to be quite extensive but, in checking their websites periodically during the past few years, I've found that the vast majority of their varieties are ALWAYS out of stock regardless of the season.

I think it's important to contact the vendors directly. Small business folks (especially rose growers) don't usually have the time nor inclination to keep the website current. PLUS as an added bonus, they often have lots of goodies that are NOT on the website and they can offer recs for your needs.
I spent some time down at Angel Gardens and I know Pam has LOADS of stuff that is not on the website and/or shown out of stock. You can also make requests for a certain plant which may be too small to show as "stock" but she can grow it on for you until spring.
They can stick cuttings year round down there in FLA dang it!
