Hi Alana, Here's what I found. "How Oil Is Made Almond oil or Jojoba oil would be very good for the skin. Diane
Here is a link that might be useful: rose hips oil

Thanks Diane , thats a very useful link, I'm going to try that as soon as my roses get big enough to make enough hips, I'm gonna try rose oil, rose hip oil and rose hip jelly, have you ever tried to make this before?

| The primary value of rose hips is Vitamin C, and also good doses of A & K. Rose hips are one of the greatest sources of Vit C, but it takes a fair number. As far as I've ever come across, there is nothing special about the oil from the seeds except the vitamins. They are not very oily seeds, so you can imagine how many hips you would have to press to get a teaspoon of oil. | Hi Alana, I've never made any recipes but now I'm curious and may try some. Diane |

From what I read catrose the seeds or hips but seeds are actually better for a facial moisturizure (spelling wrong sorry) because they are not real oily and greasy and because of their vitamin content. I was trying to see if anyone had actually tried it, and what results, and plus the easiest way to make it. I found a recipe using the hips and seeds, but I read that just the seeds were better, because they were very light in oil and great for skin, just trying to try something new. and thanks everyone for your input I love learning from everyone on here and the advice given, hopefully someone's done this and will chime in and teach us something :)

I wonder what would happen then, if you took the seeds and put them in a blender or VitaMix before adding them to the oil? When time to use, just filter, which you'd have to do anyway.

I don't know lagomorphmom but it would be interesting to see, I wonder why noone's tried this before? As soon as mine get another years growth I'm gonna try :)

Catsrose, that's why rose oil is so expensive - it takes a LOT of hips to make an ounce of rose oil. I don't know how an individual would have access to enough hips to make a usable amount of oil. I was in New Mexico years ago in the fall, and there were huge rugosas growing wild, and I collected a gallon or so and had great tea for a long time. It would take huge plants like that, with those large, fat hips, thousands of them, to get enough to make a little oil.
