East Coast sources for roses

It's getting near the time when I order more from my "wish-list" and I'm considering trying out some new sources. I live in NJ and have ordered from Vintage Gardens, Rogue Valley Roses and Heirloom Roses in the past. I have no complaints, but I'm thinking that in the interest of saving on shipping distance, I should look at some nurseries on the East Coast. I happened upon Angel Gardens in Florida and they seem to have a nice selection (not all in stock at the moment, but it's December after all).

I'm looking for nurseries which sell own-root band-sized (or similar) plants -- OGRs, some Austins, some early moderns. Gallon-sized plants will end up costing more in shipping than getting bands from the West Coast. Suggestions? Experiences? Thanks in advance.

:-)

See if Long Ago Roses has anything of interest to you Christopher. They're in North Carolina. Kim

Long Ago Roses is my favorite source. Their band-sized roses have always been vigorous growers for me. Fair shipping costs and great service!

The best that I've dealt with on the east coast are Angel Gardens, Brushwood, Long Ago Roses, and Roses Unlimited :)

Roses Unlimited is my favorite. I love their selection. They are own-root and sell in 1-gal that are the same price as VG's bands.

Love Roses Unlimited and Rose Petals in Florida.

I love all the ones mentioned, and coincidently, I just received a Happy Holidays email from Rose Petals Nursery that included some very exciting announcements. Hopefully, this link works for you.

I too am always looking for good east coast rose suppliers to save on shipping.

I have had good luck with Roses Unlimited.

Burlington Rose Nursery is in California but their shipping is not too bad.

I was excited to hear about Long Ago Roses but their web site is not very informative. It seems like the way to see what they offer is call or to download two lists which are in a format that I can't open. Their prices are amazing though!

Unfortunately I already have most of the cold hardy varieties I want that are offered by east coast vendors. I keep going back to Vintage for the harder-to-find things.

Sometimes I try to coordinate with friends so we can buy different varieties and eventually share them.

I am 2 hours from Chamblees and go there as often as I can [or is that more often than I should??]. I can tell you they run a first class operation. I have never had anything shipped, but their plants are the best bang for the buck in prices and quality. I have ordered from the Antique Rose Emporium in Brenham when I am unable to make the 3 hour trip and they have always sent huge, quality plants - I usually just make the trip and go to the nursery in person, which is such a delight.

My recent order from Roses Unlimited are planted and growing well. I highly recommend them.

RU's shipping is nice and reasonable for 1 gallons, but then I'm also just a state away from them :) Usually the shipping on heavy plants gets a bit high for me even from the middle of the country.

Long Ago Roses uses flat-rate Priority Mail, which I wish many nurseries would use. Her plants are bands but very robust.

I still order from Pickering, too! I know it's Canada, but the shipping ends up being cheaper than many US nurseries to my state. Check them out if you are interested at all in any grafted roses.
