| Hi all
Had excellent luck last year seeding all my vegetables so I ventured into flowers. I have actually started off well but not hit a snag. Several of my flowers are doing great (Butterfly weed, coleus, balloon flowers) But others (such as eucalyptus, baby's breath and salvia) they are sprouting well, and as soon as they do I put them under light but then whey they are about 1/2 tall they are just falling over. Any suggestions? I am keeping them moist and the room they are in is an average 65-70 degrees. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks. Kim |

| Sounds like damp off to me. You need to increase the air flow around them and cut back the watering a bit. You can increase air flow with a fan, or just by giving more room between the plants. All plants are suseptible to damp off, but if they like to grow in dryer conditions they will be more so. If you have a humidity lid on them take it off when they sprout. There is a product called damp off and it might be a good idea to add some to your watering water when you water these plants |

| Thanks. I did take off the cover as soon as they sprouted. I will pick up just a little fan and see if that helps and try to find the product you mentioned. Thanks again |

| Agree - its damp off. In addition to the fan, cut way back on the water. The soil surface needs to dry out before you water so "keeping them moist" is only adding to the problem. "Moist" is needed for germination but not for growing on. ;) Check out the FAQ here on preventing damp-off. Dave |
