Hello all!
This is my first season growing seeds inside. I live near Atlanta GA and have been gardening for many years but never from scrath starting indoors. Needless to say - I'm very excited. I have a variety of seeds planted, including the bhut jolokia seeds. After doing some reading online I have heard that the jiffy peat pellets are not ideal for the hot peppers. Right now they are planted in a medium of Miracle-Gro African violet dirt (it is what I had around) and a little bit of mushroom compost on top of the seeds. They are in a jiffy heated tray with the clear lid on top. Does this sound like a good start?
Also- they have a 4 foot florescent light hanging over them (I know that light is not important for germination but I have some seeds that already sprouted in another tray.)
When the peppers sprout and I remove the lid, should I keep the heat pad on? The seedlings are in my basement which is finished and kept around 66 degrees.
Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
Dave
