| Does anyone have a good design for a 4' shop light set up for starting plants?
I've got a heat mat, 4' shop lights, soil less starting mixture, a small fan and plenty of raised beds to transplant into. This is my 9th year gardening. This is my first venture into starting most seeds. Almost all of my seeds are from seed exchanges. Unfortunately, the reason I'm starting from seed is financial, so please keep in mind using recycled materials (or cheap) if you are giving me directions for the light set-up. Thanks all and happy gardening! Nancy |

| Hey, I took 2x4s and ripped them in half (money saver) and made a 4 foot long by 2 foot wide by 4 foot high stand. It had two tiers and fit 8 trays. It works well. Keep it simple and it will be lighter and more accessible. Ill try and get you a picture |

| Scroll down to "my greenhouse on wheels" It seems to me that basic design would work well for a light set up too and he said it cost him about $50 to build. |

| Here are a couple of the previous discussions on this question - many pics. There are more posts here on them but these have the most pictures. Dave |

| Thanks all. Getting some good ideas. I'll have the hubby go over these pics and figure something out. He's a woodworker, so should figure something out! |

| I actually went the really cheap route... I had a clothes drying rack lying around, the kind with the horizontal bars, about four feet tall. I suspended the light from chains, and it hangs below the lowest bar. 100 percent free. And serves more than one purpose! Kim |

| Free is good! DH is on the search for chains to hang the (FREE) lights from. I think we're set. Will be building the set up this rainy weekend! |
