Formula for success with delphiniums?

Posted by patreesh 5 (My Page) on

Can someone please tell me how to successfully grow delphinium from seed under lights? I have read everything from "needs darkness" to "darkness not required" to "use heating mat" to "cool temperatures required for germination" to "refrigerate seed" to "freeze seed" Can someone just give me a step-by step formula which has been successful for them? Thank you!

Plants will flower 1st year IF the seed gets 5 weeks at 40F other wise will flower the 2nd year.
lightly cover the seed with soil. Soil temp for germination at night 50F & during the day 65F taking 14 to 21 days for germination. growing on temperature 55-65F.

RE: Formula for success with delphiniums?

I was wondering the same thing as patreesh.

Does a person use the baggie method, or can the seed pack just be put in the refrigerator by itself?
