Is it possible to start seedlings from seeds fresh from the veggie or do they have to be processed and dried first.

Processing and drying only help the seed establish their germination resistance. Many seeds that will require scarification or stratification later will grow readily if planted fresh. Al

Last summer I bought one Cantaloupe. It was the most sweet and tasty contaloupe I have ever tased. It smelled good too. I saved the seeds and was wondering if it will germinate. A month ago I planted some of the seeds in pots in my little green house. It germinated and the plants are very healthy and looking good. Still cold to take them outside.

foolishpleasure,

A word of caution... if those seeds were saved from a hybrid cantaloupe, it may grow a completely different cantaloupe than the one that you ate. I wish you luck with it, but unless the cantaloupe was an heirloom, I'm not sure that you will enjoy what you grow as much as the one you bought.
