 o
seed starting question

Ok, so when starting, do seeds have to have either direct sunlight or a grow light to germinate? I'm thinking of starting them in my living room over the pellet stove. Right now, its holding at a steady 80 degrees, gets natural light, but not direct light. After germination, I plan to move them to the dining room under a grow light, then out to the greenhouse when it stops snowing long enough to get it set up. If I set up the grow light over the shelf where the seeds will germinate, it gets too hot. The way I'm looking at supplies steady bottom heat, but not direct light. Do you think this will work?

PS-I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SEEDS THAT SAY THEY NEED LIGHT TO GERMINATE LOL.

You can germinate seeds near a heat source as long as you move them to bright light the second you see shoots. I put trays on my heating boiler.
