Yes I've tried looking this up via my own research unfortunately I've not had much success/found much info.

I know some seeds require light to germinate others need darkness. My question is what seeds need light to germinate, what seeds need darkness for germination?

The only thing I know needs light to germinate is lettuce.

The others I have no idea here is my list below...

Greens (collards, radicchio, cress, kale, mustard greens)

root veggies (carrots, beets, turnips, radish) (daikon lg. white Asian radish)

zukes and cukes
corn
tomatoes, peppers, eggplant

winter squash (kabocha, butternut, acorn etc.)
melons (watermelon, cantaloupe etc.)
beans (lima, snap, filet bean etc.)
peas
okra
cabbage
broccoli
cauliflower

None of your list *needs* light to germinate although they will germinate in light if they have to.

Only a few flower varieties require light for germination. Lettuce does not require light either.

Recently began to think the amount of light is directly related to the required depth of planting the seed.
See depth page 54 of the attached book.

Try this site. Tom Clothier's Garden Walk and Talk. Click on the seed germination database you need.
