Maximum number of plant to put in hanging basket?

Hello everyone this is my first year starting flowers from seed. I've started petunias, impatiens, lobelia, bacopa and black-eyed susan vine. I'm quite pleased with my results so far. In the past I've always purchased my hanging baskets from my local nursery and naturally they were already planted. My question being what would be the maximum number of plants for a average size hanging basket? Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Happy Gardening.

No one can give you a definitive answer to that. The maximum number of plants would depend on the plants, and how big their mature size will be. For instance half a dozen lobelia would take the same room as 1 petunia or Impatien.

5 is a good number if you are planting only Petunias or Impatiens, but then it would depend on the size of the basket. You can plant things closer in a hanging basket than you would in the ground.
