| Ok, so I'm in the San Diego and I directly sowed Pole beans, okra, and zinnias. I guess it is probably too early. Anyway, the beans are finally starting to come up (two weeks to germinate?) and the first two true leaves (not the cotyledons) are small and wrinkled and don't look all that great. Should I be concerned? I'm wondering if I kept the seed bed too wet and/or it wasn't warm enough. Would that cause it to be deformed?
I also started nasturtiums and all of them come up. Some of seedlings have large leaves, and others have tiny leaves. Is that normal variation? Thanks. Z |

| yiorges, Thanks for the response. I lost a couple do to earwigs/slugs but the rest are still alive. The beans don't look that much better but are growing. The okra now are coming with yellow cotyledons...but I'm hoping they will green up now that they are seeing the light of day..?? |
