Does 5-1-1 wick?

I am new to growing from seed and the types of soil to use. I am very concerned about damp off, so I have been researching soils throughout GW. I have been using both 50% sphagnum /50% vermiculite and 5-1-1 to see which works best. Does anyone know if 5-1-1 will wick to allow bottom watering or should it just be sprayed constantly?

Thanks!

Jeff

Sprayed? No, top watered yes. It is designed for uniform and relatively quick drainage, not wicking. It isn't designed to wick effectively unless wicking material of some kind is woven in through the containers.
