I am fairly new to gardening. I am in the learning process of starting plants from seeds. My grandfather loves to garden and saved these seeds from what he called a "Hummingbird Vine". But he didn't know for sure that is the real name. He said it had red flowers and delicate leaves. He grew it along he's banister in full sun. He said it would climb very well. When I googled hummingbird vine seeds the pictures don't look like what he gave me. Does anyone know a plant similar to the one I described that has seeds like these? Thanks!

The red flowers and delicate foliage sound like Ipomoea quamoclit. Can you show him a picture and ask him if that is what he has?

Ipomoea Quamoclit is indeed called by the common name Humming Bird Vine. Check out the site below lhttp://www.ehow.com/how_8190274_grow-hummingbird-plant-seed.html

Thanks for the info. I will show him a picture. The plant does look like what he described but the seeds just don't look the same. He gave me an Aspirin bottle half full of the tiny seeds so I think I'll sow a few and see what happens!
