Can I start Dahlia Victoriana seed now? Zone 5

Dear Garden Folk

I've given up on Garden Lights. My Seedlings always get leggy and weak.

This year I'd like to start my seedlings outside in hopes that they'll be stronger.
One book I read said 1-3 weeks before last frost. Hmmm...why doesn't . That seems sensible

Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!
Dale

Slow to germinate & needs a cool period to germinate So yes sow now & soil will be ready when seed is ready to germinate.....

I'm not sure i understand. I'm using a pod sytem to germinate and grow my seedlings. Are you saying I should start them out (and germinate now...outside?
Thanks!

Dale

I always plant dahlia seeds in warm conditions (inside) & they always germinate in under 2 weeks.
FYI: lights should be positioned only a few inches above your seedlings. This prevents them from getting leggy.
