Has anyone ever had any luck growing Arum Italicum from seed? Finally last year I was able to dry the orange pods, and harvest the seeds inside. I was wondering if I needed to soak or stratify the seeds before sowing, and how long they will take to germ?
Follow-Up Postings:
|
Sown fresh and exposed to moist cold of about 45 days, they will often germinate in additional two-3 weeks. Stored dried seed may (or may not) take much longer to germinate, up to several months after stratifying.

Thanks for the help, I will start to stratify the seeds asap.

Hi there my father told me once that he just sowed freshly collected seed of Arumitalicum in the garden where it grew nicely. It was north facing on a heavy clay soil. He thought it important that the seed is fresh. Good luck, cheers, Lin
