Asclepias incarnata 'Cinderella'

I purchased a packet of the above from Park Seeds. The packet gives no info regarding germination time, merely telling me to plant indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost (yeah, I'm a little late) and keep at about 70 deg F. I have a suspicion they're not telling me the whole story.

Cold moist stratification, right? How long do I want to keep the seeds in the fridge for, and then how long before I can look for them to germinate? TIA!

Some say asclepias incarnata need no stratification...surface sow, bottom heat and germination within a few weeks. Personally, I cold stratify 60 days and have had great success at room temp since then. Wishing you the best of luck!

I had great germination at 65F with no pre-treatment and no bottom heat.

Does anyone know the difference between 'Cinderella' and the straight species? Both have pink flowers and height of 3-5 feet.

There are several different varieties of asclepias.

Cindererella is more red, swamp is more pink. Swamp is more 2-4 feet. Common is more of a pinkish purple and can get up to 6 feet.
