I've tried starting pepper seeds for 2 yrs .Last year I had maybe 10% germination .This year damping off was a problem ( My Fault ) . I know how to resolve the damping off. I think a heat pad would help germination . Anyone who starts pepper seeds with year after year success please post their method. THX !!!

I just put a few into cells filled with bought seed and cuttings mix. Press gently into the mix so they're barely covered. Water from below so they are thoroughly wet. Cover with cling film. Put on the top of the boiler until they germinate. Bottom heat will certainly help germination. Once germinated I remove the film and place in my glass porch. Water only when fairly dry, not on any kind of schedule. I actually find them really easy. They don't do well outside here so they stay in containers under glass all the time. Maybe you're trying too hard? Hungarian wax:

Thx floral UK . I'm pretty sure a heat pad would help . I don't think I give them enough heat and too much water !

I did a water bottle greenhouse, more or less like the video attached. I used one cut across a Trader Joe's sparkling water bottle (18 oz, nice shape), and then had to make some slits to make things fit back, slightly frustrating but effective. My bottom halves were about 4 inches deep. I didn't use drain holes, just misted with weak chamomile tea. You can see through the clear plastic and avoid over-watering. My window sill was warm enough, but some of my peppers were slow, like a few popping up in 2-3 weeks and a lot more a week later. (I have heard that soaking pepper seeds (2-8 hours) is effective, and may try that in the future.)
