What do i do after seeds sprout?

Im a newbie gardener and im totally confused about something, for example alot of the seeds im trying to grow say start indoors 4-8 weeks before last frost, ok i know my last frost is about may 17th, what do i do with the plants for the 4-8 weeks? Im using peat pellets to start the seeds and im curious after they germinate what do i do with the plant for the 4-8 weeks until i plant it out, do i have to put the pellet in a larger container so it doesn't outgrow the pellet in the 4-8 weeks? Do i put them in sunny window? Outside? What size of container until its ready to go out into the garden? Im sure this is a really stupid question but its just something i don't quite understand.

Thanks you for helping a newbie!

Hi there, why don't you try reading the FAQ on the main forum page and then check back in if you have more specific questions?

In addition to the FAQ's linked in blue on this forum's front page, there is tons of good reading here - posts from other folks who have already posted your same questions. ;) But be sure to start with the FAQs first.

Generally, yes, you will have to transplant them out of the pellets into other containers - plastic cups with holes in the bottom is the most common. And if you also do some reading here on the peat pellets you'll note that you have to strip off the netting before transplanting or planting them in the gardens. Peat pellets have several problems which a search here for 'peat pellets' will discuss in detail.

I have no answer as we're in different climates, but am interested in any others answers. Is it appropriate for me to ask similar question here, or start new thread? Im in low desert and already in high 80's. Got yellow bells from seed in plastic cups now 2 inches tall. Is it time to plant in the ground? thanks.
