I direct sowed calendulas about 7" apart. Everyone is showing their true leaves now. Did I sow them too close to each other? I was trying to accomplish a thick flower grouping.

I think they'll be fine at anywhere from 6"-12". After one planting, I've just let them self sow and they don't have their own ruler :). I've only thinned the seedlings that put themselves in the way of something besides other calendula.

Awesome! I'm really happy with calendulas. It's my first time to own and plant them. It's so easy. Also today, I saw some sprouts of cleomes. Looks like they really need hot weather to sprout. I will sow more tomorrow. :D

Oh, I sowed castor beans last week and I have not seen any sprouts. I got so curious, I dug one really carefully. I'm so excited that to see green about half inch long. I returned the dirt and watered it immediately. Hopefully, I didn't put her life in jeopardy. I'm going to sow more tomorrow. :D

Has anyone closer to you ever suggested you work a little on the patience factor? ;) Patience in a gardener will have its own rewards...

I'm learning :D It's hard especially it's my first time to direct sow. I don't have any experience seeing them grow.
