| Hi all. Thanks to Dave (a month ago, he answered my post that I needed lights to grow my seedlings). I have some decent size seedlings, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and lots of coleus as well as some assorted other stuff. I got a late start and would like to plant them directly outside instead of having to plant them in bigger containers 1st. I have them in the Burpee 72 cell boxes. I will be planting them all on my deck - as I live in the city. (have done this before - but never from seeds). After I harden them off, will this be OK. I don't want to jeopardize the tomatoes eggplants, etc. Thanks! |

| Harden them off, then transplant to final outdoor containers. Those seedlings look like they are way too close together, but it's hard to see them in their containers in this picture. At this point it will be hard to separate them if they are close together in the pot, because the roots are tangled up together. You must separate them or they will not grow right. Separating roots is easier when the soil is dry. Dump the pot and slowly tease the roots apart with your fingers. Don't worry if roots break a little. So go from there and good luck with your first seed starting venture! |
