| Hello out there!
I found out that the shasta daisy seeds I have put in wont likely bloom this year =( As soon as they sprout, I plan on pulling them out. So I could really use some suggestions of some flowers that I can start from seed that will bloom this summer. I already have zinnias and many sunflowers. Maybe cosmos? I want something like zinnias or sunflowers, with those type of blossoms, hopefully at least a foot off the ground. |

| I think I am going to try to direct sow some celosia seeds, unless anybody thinks that's a bad idea? Is it too late? I dont care if they take a while... |

| Hi, If you have not pulled out your shasta daisy may I suggest just leaving them to grow this year for next summer? They will be small enough that you can still plant an annual seed like cosmos or calendula. Calendula is a fast growing annual, not expensive. It will bloom a second time if you cut it back after it blooms or keep deadheading the blossoms before it goes to seed. I am not familiar with growing celiosa from seed. I hope this helps. Another thing I like to grow for beautiful greenery in my flower bed is dark red beets - just for the beautiful leaves. Carrots are another one I enjoy in the flower garden as well for the greenery and then when all else is dying - I get carrots out of the deal. Just a few thoughts. Let us know how you get on with things. |

| Oh, I just reread your post - zinnias are an excellent idea. I'd still leave the daisies for next year. |

| Nasturiums are one of my favorite, reliable annuals. I love the bright colors and pretty foliage. Both are edible too and make a pretty and spicy addition to summer salads. |

| Thanks Peggy! I just might leave them... Nasturiums....interesting...shall ponder =) |
