| So I still have a few seedlings lingering under lights inside, and I must admit, they have been a bit neglected lately as the bigger ones outdoors claim all my attention. I was in poking around in them today, seeing if they needed to be watered, and I suddenly saw something stuck on the outside of one of the cups. I jumped back, thinking it might be some kind of bug; on closer inspection, I found this:
I turned the cup and held it closer.
A mushroom. Sprouted itself inside the cup and pushed its way out through the cup when it was damp and soft. Now that is something I haven't seen before! |

| Strange all right. A spore must have been in the soil. I'm no expert on fungi but it looks like one of those mushrooms that come up when there is a tree root rotting. It's probably feeding on the peat moss in the mix. |

| 'Shrooms, man. Between this and the pot farm that the guy at food mart thinks I am running, I may be getting a visit from the feds before long. :) I just can't believe it burst right out the side of the cup like that; I mean, those cups can get a little soggy, but it still usually takes some effort to poke/tear through them. That's one determined mushroom! |
